Airkooled Kustoms provides a lot of the food, but we appreciate the kindness of the VW community and love it when 'dubbers bring food to share. You can bring your award-winning baked beans, potato salad, or just a couple bags of chips and some sodas. We don't want anyone to go home hungry!

Give Life A Chance.
Shelby Humane Society's Shelter Partners Program, founded in November, 2006, is a volunteer driven transport program providing second chances for thousands of dogs.
The Shelter Partners program moves pets from Shelby County, which is experiencing extreme animal overpopulation, to shelters in states where the success of animal and spay and neuter initiatives limit the number of pets available for adoption. Shelby Humane works with a dedicated group of partner shelters to find new forever families for dogs being transported. With rare exception, the dogs and puppies transferred are placed with adoptive families within a few days of becoming available for adoption at our partner shelters.
This program would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who are willing to drive 19-23 hours each way to make these life-saving trips possible. Each Shelter Partners trip costs Shelby Humane Society $750-$850 and gives a second chance to as many as 75 dogs per trip. Since the inception of this program in 2006, over 4,400 dogs have found forever families!

Food, Friends, & Vdubs!
Every year at the at the beginning of Fall, we host our annual shop car show & barbeque, Bugs 'n Brats. It's a chance for us to clean up the shop, clear off the front lot and invite our friends and fellow 'dubbers over for some barbeque, brats, and good home cookin'.

Bugs & Brats 6 was a HUGE Success!
Hundreds of Darksides were fed, trophies won, motor blown, and a great time was had by all.
October 15, 2011 was one for the record books. It was a perfect day on the compound, for the first time in four years for the 6th annual Bugs 'N Brats Car Show & Barbeque. Cars started rolling in at about 9:30, and it went strong till about 4:00.
Special thanks to Claude Shaub of Bugbus.net for being the first ever sponsor of Bugs 'N Brats. Claude provided the grab bags, stickers & post cards that were handed out to everyone who registered a car.
Another special thanks to the North Alabama Volkswagen Club for allowing us the use of their PA system. Without that, we wouldn't have had the tunes.
A BIG thanks to the Crimson Pig Barbeque Company for providing their awesome Pulled Pork & Brats for the second year in a row.
My hat goes off to our Master of Ceremonies, Chief of Security, pack mule & all around great guy Harley Winkleblack for running the microphone and making everybody laugh throughout the day.
Congratulations to Greg Cox on winning first place in the crowd favorite vote with his '73 Squareback.
Congratulations to Brian Shirey for winning second place with his '56 Oval.
And Congratulations to Bob Thomas for winning third place with his 67 Bus.
The Engine Blow went for 4:14, slung parts all over the place, dumped oil all over the ground & shot flames out the front of the block before it finally gave up the ghost. It was awesome!
We hope everyone had a great time, and thanks to everyone who came out and spent the day with us. Photos are slowly coming in from several people who were at the show, and we'll update the photo gallery as they do.
